How to Join Us

You are invited to join the I-CAN Group Mail (I-CAN google forum) to become a member. Graduate students, Postdocs, Undergrads, and WashU spouses are all welcome. American students are also welcome!

Steps:

1. First, you need to decide which email you prefer for the subscription in I-CAN. If your preferred email is a gmail, then go to Step 3 directly. If your preferred email is NOT a gmail (yahoo, hotmail, wash.u. email, etc.), go to Step 2 to set up a google account with your preferred email.

2. Click the link to set up a google account with your prefered email account :

3. Enter the prefered email address into the box, and click subscribe.

4. Check your email for subscription. A confirmation email from google group will arrive soon.

5. Open the confirmation email, click "To join this group go to the following confirmation URL". A page like this will open.


If you just want to receive emails from I-CAN, you don't need to answer these registration questions.

If you want to post messages on our group, please answer the questions. One question is asking for your Wash. U. email, which is used to confirm the authenticity of other information. We understand most new entering students won't get their Wash. U. email until school starts. So new students can skip that question, and we will allow you post messages temporarily if you answer other questions. However, please provide your Wash. U. email once you get it. Otherwise you won't be able to post after the school starts (probation period: 7/1/09-9/30/09). Spouse members please provide your spouse's Wash. U. email. All of these is to keep our forum clean and efficient. Thank you for your understanding and collaboration!

6. Click "Apply to this group". Our google group manager will review your application and approve it. It would normally take 1-2 days.

How to use this google group:

1. Visit I-CAN Google Group
http://groups.google.com/group/igspda?hl=en.

2. "Edit my membership" to give yourself a nick name or choose a comfortable way of receiving messages (Abridged email is hightly recommended).

3. Click "Discussion" to post messages or to read old posts.

4. Cl
ike "Files" to upload a new file or download an old file.

5. To post a message with attachment, simply email to
igspda@googlegroups.com with the attachment.


One frequently asked question:
I can receive emails, but cannot post messages, why?


Possible reasons are:

1. You are not using the correct email. Please use the email you used for subscription to log in or send email to the group. Or your email is not a google account. You need to set up the google account for subscription.

2. You didn't answer the registration questions, so you are not authorized to post messages. Please answer the following questions and send them to
ican@grad.wustl.edu. You will be able to post once these information is confirmed.

Last and First name; Title (graduate student or others); School affiliation (or Spouse info); Entering Year; Country of origin/region; WashU email; Who introduced you into I-CAN.
